Product Designer
Eric Joseph Lee
I'm a product designer in Vancouver. I design products, I build working prototypes and integrations myself, and I teach.
I spent two years at Central 1 on a banking platform used by 300+ credit unions across Canada, and led design on a three-sided volunteer platform before that. Now I'm a Creative Technologist at ProtoPie, building AI-driven prototypes for enterprise clients and teaching their teams to use ProtoPie's AI tools. In September 2026 I led a session at Volkswagen Group headquarters introducing those tools to 30+ designers from across the group's brands.
Teaching keeps me honest. I've taught UX to 300+ students, and if I can't explain a design decision to someone new, it probably isn't a good one.
As a kid I built Lego by stacking one piece on top of whatever already existed, no instructions, until I had something that surprised even me. That's still how I work.

How I work
Start from the real moment of use
Someone who thinks their card is stolen isn't reading carefully. Designing for that moment decides what to show and what to leave out.
Prove it with a working prototype
A prototype with real data answers questions a static screen can't. I'd rather be wrong in week one than in production.
Specify the edge cases
I work through every state, error, and permission case with engineering instead of handing off a happy path.
Check what shipped
I compare the built product against the design and close the gaps.
